So, 3.1 is here at last. I made sure to get the background downloads sorted over the last couple of weeks, so the final install this morning was quite quick (though no servers up at 8am, so no opportunity to try things out before work). Fingers crossed it'll all be up and running by the time I'm home tonight (7pm-ish).
The focus of the patch is Ulduar, but that's of minimal interest given the Ravens are unlikely to see inside there any time soon (rather like Zul Aman in that regard). Instead, the dual-spec, class/profession changes and Argent Tournament are what will interest me most.
Then again, I'm a mage. We've really only had nips and tucks in this patch (a mix of nerfs and buffs really) though there's a new polymorph spell (so, Blizzard contuing the tradition of "give the mages a new fluffy animal and they won't notice we've ignored them again").
Dual spec could be vaguely useful though (even as a pure DPS) allowing a PVP spec and a Raiding one. The PVP spec is going to be deep arcane, but I'm in two minds about the PvE build - continue the Arcane+Frost build I use at the moment, or take another look at Frostfire? Decisions, Decisions (and about 6 hours to decide in). There'll be more impact for my Paladin, Buliwyf. His primary spec will remain Protection, but once he has the funds he'll pick up healer as a secondary spec. Hopefully this'll provide a bit more wiggle room for instances and raiding (though as he's 77 at the moment he still has a way to go and still needs to gear up).
Andro is hoping to be able to spend all her banked wintergrasp tokens on something shiney (and has a full pool of honor to spend if there's something useful), and is looking forward to seeing what the Argent Tournament has to offer. New dailies are a good thing, and there are some nice-looking pieces of kit, though I wonder how long it'll be before the novelty wears off.
