With the Wrath of the Lich King imminent there's been a drive to get as much BC and classic stuff finished as possible. I still have a number of heroic quests to finish (and probably won't before wrath) and I've been done with solo BC quests for a while (the odd group quest left) but there's whole swathes of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor I'd not completed.

The Loremaster achievements provide some impetus to do so, as does
the Ambassador title (exalted with all five home factions). Well, I completed EK Loremaster on Saturday and Ambassador yesterday morning (its amazing how much rep starter quests give, particularly the Draenai ones). Still (as of Monday evening) about 175 quests to do for Kalimdor though. Given I have real work to do over the next two days too (writing that is as I'm on holiday from the daily grind all week) that's looking unlikely.
The Achievements have also given impetus to my long standing foibles
in WOW: Collecting pets and mounts. Prior to 3.0.2 I had a dozen mounts and about the same number of pets. I'd been discourged from
getting more by the space they took up ... a requirement that 3.0.2 removed. I'm now up to 25 mounts (though I'm aiming for 50 and the Albino drake) and the arrival of the Darkmoon Faire allowed me to grab their two frogs for a total of 51 pets ... which earned me a 52nd as a reward: the lesser spotted "Stinker" skunk. Of course, Wrath introduces new pets (and there are a number of rare drops I don't have yet) so I expect that number to grow; my personal goal is 75!
Now, I'd probably have gotten around to these purchases/quests at some point, but the Achievements system provides a spur to so, particularly those of us with a completist edge (I'd done all bar one quest for Outland Loremaster *before* the system was introduced, and likewise explored much of the map).
In other news, having largely neglected it for 3 years (I got to 100 skill in classic, and 200 skill in BC) I've finally made an effort with my fishing skill and currently its at 330 (aiming for 375 before Thursday) and I took part in my first Stranglethorn competition on Sunday - lost badly, but fun nonetheless. I'd like to see what Northrend has to offer in the profession, hence maxing out fishing now (rather than finally being able to fish in Outland 20 months after Burning Crusade launched!)
